The Perfect Day

I grew up on a small farm in SE Idaho on the banks of the Snake River.

The perfect day for me, after chores in the morning, involved taking my dog and .22 down by the river, taking pot-shots at magpies and tin cans, and imagining that I was a Mountain Man roaming freely somewhere in the Rocky Mountains!

Who knows why, but I could never decide during those days on the farm what I wanted to be when I grew up (except that I knew I wasn't going to be a farmer!).

Sorting It All Out

So I ended up, fortunately, with a very eclectic mix of careers...

Including a career in the military as a commissioned officer, in industry as a computer programmer, and in academia as a college professor.

Each had its own set of challenges, skills, rewards, and disappointments. But I wouldn't trade the experience of any one of them for anything else!

A couple years before retiring from academia, I knew I had to retire to something...

Golfing, fishing, camping, hiking, skiing, travel, grandkids, yes!

But there had to be something more...

More productive, more contributory, more meaningful...

And it had to be something I liked, something I could be good at, something that I could make lots of money with (hmm...bad English...).

 $7.37 Check

Early in our marriage, my wife and I got involved in more than one network marketing "opportunity."

We actually sponsored 35-40 individuals in about six months in one of them, before we ran out of "warm market" to talk to.

But it didn't take long before they all gave up, except for 3 of those who had joined us as customers.

And amazingly enough, I still to this day get a check each month for approx. $7.37 because of those three customers and that focused effort over two decades ago!

So I had a feeling that getting back into network marketing and creating a residual income stream was a serious post-retirement option.

Critical Decision

Now the question was, what company to join and how to promote it?

So many voices, so many specialized niches, so many unknowns, so many risks...

I did finally find a company I was comfortable with and started attending several meetings.

At each meeting I fell more and more in love with the company's product offerings and community culture, and became more and more committed to NOT promote it with traditional network marketing tactics.

The old school "3 foot rule, belly-to-belly, every one's your prospect" marketing approach wasn't very appealing to me...

In fact, it made me feel like a sleazy used-car salesman in a cheap plaid suit...

But that was what my upline trained on and what was expected of me, and I was committed.

So about a year ago I decided to get serious, jumped into the trenches, and recruited (not my favorite word) 4 new customers and enrolled one new team member in just two months.

Not bad considering most people in this profession don't sponsor anyone at all.

But after two more months they had all quit, including my new business partner, except for just one of those customers (who happened to be my little brother).

I knew there had to be a better way...

A Whole New World

Scrolling through my Facebook news feed one evening, I clicked on an ad for something called "Attraction Marketing."

This concept of "becoming the hunted instead of being the hunter" described in this ad really resonated with me.

And there were some very impressive testimonials in the ad (a very well put together marketing piece, BTW) from people who had become top earners in their companies by leveraging systems, technology, and social media rather than relying on "old school" tactics.

So I bought the Attraction Marketing Formula eBook from the ad.

After reading it, and being introduced to a whole new world of how to build a huge (massive) network marketing team, I got involved in the mentorship and coaching program offered by the Attraction Marketing team, and Voilà...

No longer in the trenches of "old school" salesmanship.

Nope.

Now on my way to building a massive network marketing team using the concepts, techniques, and strategies of Attraction Marketing.

But...

I don't have a track record to brag about. And so the nagging question always in the back of my mind is, "What if you can't do this and it doesn't really work for you?"

Commitment

I love this quote attributed to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, "The moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too."

Committed to the Attraction Marketing Formula, I attended Digital Networking Live 2022, the corporate major event held July, 2022, in Las Vegas.

I was blown away by the no-fluff content and delivery of each presenter, the feeling of family that permeated the venue, the vision and commitment of the company to over deliver content, and to focus not just on building a business, but to also build leaders.

It felt like I had arrived...

That I was there for a purpose...

Not by accident...

That Providence was actually moving me in the right direction at this season of my life...

That the future will be everything and more that I ever wanted it to be.

Now What?

Stay tuned for the rest of the story...
